Just got my Abit IS7-G yesterday & I set my NB strap to 400 to enable the 3:4 divider, but now I can't boot into XP. No matter what speed I run my proc at, from stock to INSANE, it locks at the black "Windows XP" screen. If anyone else has this prob, please post your experiences so others can get around this problem. Hopefully it's just a BIOS update away from being fixed. Also CPU-Z 1.17 correctly identifies my chipset, but doesn't show my memory timings?!?!?!?!

What processor are you running on the board and what memory speed are you trying?

Edit: Also, what type of memory are you using?

Northy 2.66 & corsair XMS 3500. It doesn't matter what speed I try to run at it just locks I tried my FSB & 150 for 3.0G with DDR 400 (thus the 3:4) & I've even tried underclocking my proc to slow the memory, but same prob.

Did you change the memory latency at all? It might be running too tight? I am not able to hit DDR400 at 2,2,2,5 with my corsair. I have to go to 2,2,2,6 or 7.

Edit:

Also CPU-Z 1.17 correctly identifies my chipset, but doesn't show my memory timings?!?!?!?!

Are you able to change the latency? There might be a particular setting to get into advance options. On my board you have to hit CRL and F1. Not sure on Abits?

Try updating the BIOS to version 1.1, but I can't overclock very much using the 3:4 ratio with the 400 strap either. I can really crank with the 4:5 ratio using the 533 strap though.

2,3,3,7 is what I was trying, but no luck. Looks like the same prob as on the BH7. Where is the new BIOS. I don't even see the IS7-G on Abit's site.

I have trouble running the 400 strap 3:4 ratio with anything more than a very mild overclock on my IC7. But when I use the 533 strap and the 4:5 ratio, I can really crank it. Have you tried the 4:5 ratio yet?

That's what I'm runnig it now, but I need a new HS I'm using the stock HSF now & my OC sux. Gonna get a SLK-900u with a Sunon 92mm THEN I'll go crazy.

Tried everything I can think of, but it's the same damn 3:4 prob the BH7 has. DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen quite a few not being able to run the 3:4 setting. I had the IS7, just shipped it back to newegg because of it. I didn't want to wait for a bios rev. I have the IC7 and no trouble with it, going to order the asus canterwood board now to replace the IS7(and I was really hoping for a great springldale board too) :( I'm sure with a bios rev or two, that the problems should be worked out;)

Geez....

No such problems here on my Gigabyte 8KNXP....

All ram dividers operate perfectly as expected, the vcore stays rock solid under conditions of high load due to the 6 phase power regulation and no problems using Corsair XTreme ram....

Overclocking on this board is just too easy....

;)

yeah the 3:4 is not working with my IC7-G and 2.4b. It will not even POST. It'll have to reset CCMOS just to get back in the BIOS.

Hopefully a BIOS fix will make it work. ITs too bbad i ican't push my memory any further
