MY system appears to be getting worse. I try to open some programs and I get an immediate error. PLease read my previous post for additional info. ( AsusA7m266/Can't get passed 1.39Ghz...)

According to Sandra, I have a "disabled host controller...check BIOS settings". Could this be a problem and how to correct?
Anybody there?? Hello?

MY temps are around 40C . The errors have been occuring at the default settings. 133Mhz/1.2Ghz.

ok first get rid of the errors.if you have 98 use dr. watson.(it may be in other windoze)go to help type in dr it will bring up dr watson click on display, click on snapshot, this should put him on the task bar.double click on him,he will tell you what progs have changed win files and may givr insight to your probs.
go to help type in system, look down to system file checker, click display, click run system file checker.it will show u all the windows files that have been altered.look for 32dll. files.compare files by kb size.most changes are ok but if corrupt it will ask for windows cd to reinstall that file.if not sure if file was updated click ignore so it will bring up again later on another check.good luck!

I already checked my system files. I tried Dr. Watson, but when I got the errors, Dr. Watson disappeared in the toolbar. He was still running though per ctrl/alt/del.
So I couldn't get it to do a snapshot. In fact, everything in the lower right toolbar disappears when I get the errors and close. ? ?

have you tried renaming and reinstalling the kernel32.dll file? is it 460kb?

System file checker does not show me my .dll files. It doesn't show me any altered files.
I get errors in other areas as well. nvdisp. module ect...

I deleted Dr. Watson then started it back up. An "invisible" space appeared where it normally, visually would. So I clicked on "Dr. Watson" and something new has come up. It says "NDISWAN TAPI Service Provider has altered Windows System files module name WAN.TSP" what is that? Is that the culprit for all the different errors?
This module appears in the "patch" tab in Dr. Watson.

Clock down to default and format your hard drive. Remove all the cards but your graphics card and reinstall windows. Then put each card in one at a time, installing the drivers until you run into errors again (assuming you didn't have errors after the initial reinstall).

It sounds to me like your windows install is just hosed-- that happens sometimes. There's no use fighting it, just slap on a clean install and (hopefully) your problems will go away.

do find, type in all or part of named file, when located rename using same name adding old to it.ex kernell.32dllold or whatever the file name you suspect is the culprit.write it down.try running progs now,you will notice 1 no longer works.delete that program and reinstall it.if it still does the same after reinstalling you may want to live without it or get tech support for it
some prog has changed or corrupted a windows command file.
did you do find for kernel32.dll was it the correct kb?if it was 460 or whatever i mentioned before its not the problem.i suspect its the file dr watson mentioned.you will need to reinstall that file.check dr watsons log to see if it shows the windows file changed.

THe kernel32.dll is at 460k. These errors are really bizarre. I'm gonna have to reformat. :( I hate to do it. I'll try it later today. I'll let you all know how it goes. ( if I get my internet crap installed right). One more thing. When I install the drivers for my modem, it always goes to the wrong com port. I end up installing 3 or 4 times 'til I get com port4. How do you select com port 4 from the start?? Thanks

THe reformat went well. (easier than usual). I haven't had any errors yet. Then again, I haven't installed the majority of my programs. I'll try installing a few at a time to try and determine the culprit, if it wasn't simply a hosed original install. Thanks : )

I just got my first error! "Explorer caused a fault in nvdisp. module" I only have my basic programs installed. Why is this happening? Is my Crucial memory bad? It passed the Norton's memory test(if that means anything). Should I buy another stick of ram, try that for a while and see if there is any change?
Or...is my Geforce2GTS driver to blame (10.80) even though I get errors in other modules besides the nvdisp. ?

Here they come!! I'm getting ALL kinds of errors now! IN everything I try to open up!! IT took me a while to get back to this site! What is up?!?!?!?

JUst clicking on my START button is causing an Explorer Error RRRRRRRR! I cant get to Dr. Watson!!

Check your memory, my father was having the same problems and it turned out to be bad memory. He tried everything you have, clocking back, reformating, even a low level format, once he pulled out his memory and replaced it with another stick everything ran fine again.

Looks like a very fine choice :) Will do. I'll order another 256 Meg stick of DDR Crucial and give it a whirl.
...before I do that, I tried a different setting in my bios, the I/O Recovery Time option I set to disable. It was on "8 Bclks". Also changed the Video ROM BIOS Shadow from enable to disable. These are the only settings I haven't messed with. So far so good...(we all heard that before)

Itspower supply!why because i went through the same problem with my computer. I went and bought a new graphics card ,memory, networkcard. I now know it was my Powersupply that wasnt holding up. GO to comp USa and buy a good name brand PSU. I think they have 300watt AOPEN for 60 bucks and if it dosnt work bring it back. You have 15 days to get your money

My cpu wasnt working either at default 900mhz and i first figured my motherboard was messed up because i was getting the same errors that you are talking about. Anyway
i went from 900 to 1000mhz and 1.87 volts. My temps were high as hell with my 250watt psu so i upgraded to a 350 watt and now everything is fine. I also reflashed the bios to the latest and everything is 100 percent stable.
How old is your PSU and wattage. IF its more than a year old and its a crappy generic brand like COmp USA PSU you might want to upgrade it because your 1.333 chip is probbly buring up your PSU and thats why your getting errors.
