Anybody try using the fan header on this motherboard to power the delta? I see that you can get a 3-4 pin converter but then what do you do about the cpu fan monitor built into the motherboard? I'm hesitant to try this unless someone else has done it with success. I can't afford to buy a new Mobo at the moment. (financing a new bike).

Thanks.

If I use any other fan header except the CPU fan header on this board I get, no boot, black screen with a blue horizontal line across the bottom of the screen. Same problem has occured with the original 1.2 and the RMA 1.2. There were a few others that reported this problem on the AnandTech forums. I think Iwill reported it as being not enough power is available (i.e. no boot).
Hope this helps.

When I had my vantec 6454OD, I did it for about 36 hours since I was hesitant to use the 3to4 pin adapter I used since it was extremely loose. I had no problems but I wouldn't recommend it. If you are worried about monitoring the RPMs of the fan; I'm sure you will be able to tell approximately how fast your fan is spinning just by monitoring your temps.

ive got the black label on fan 1 on a kt7a as well as fans on 2,3 and four, but it came with the three pin plug.

I won't do it. The only motherboard manufacturer that states that this is an accetable practice..to the best of my knowledge is Abit.(kt7 and variants)

I know a few people that hooked up the Delta Black Label and all seemed good..until a few weeks to a few months later, when they burned the motherboard header out.

I use my ears as evidence that the Delta is functioning..they haven't failed me yet. :)

Well I guess I am going to have to hook up a fan to the cpu fan header to fool the mobo into thinking that it has a fan attached to it. Problem with the Iwill is it must have a fan hooked up to this header. Then I can run the delta from one of the 4 wire hookups and not worry about the fan header blowing out.

Thanks for you help

Are you saying that the mobo won't run without a fan installed on the CPU header? I thought that was only on the Abits. I don't have any fans hooked up to my mobo headers and it's been running since the day I got it.

I would just get a 3 to 4 pin converter. running off the mobo fan header could cause system instabilites when trying to overclock.

KK 266 R do not need the CPU HSF Header plugged in to operate. I tried plugging my Vantec w/ Black Delta into the header for the 1st boot and had no problems. After I had everything stable and running I used the 3 pin that is on my PSU (Enermax 431watt). Starts everytime.
