Hello:

I just recently built my first home computer :) - 1.2 Ghz Athlon (266) with Iwill KK266-R mobo. In the "Integrated Peripherals" section of the Bios, I do not see the AC97 Audio or AC97 Modem choices. I have, according to the manual, enabled the sound and I hear sound coming from the speakers. I tried to attach my force feedback joystick to the game port, and it was not recognized by the computer. The controller to enable the game port is under the AC97 heading in the BIOS, which I can't get to. Anyone else had this problem? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance
Trey

hey I have a different mb but the same chipsets and sound, what to do is remove the drivers then reinstall it and windows should install the drivers for the game port,WILDONE

Would this effect why I cannot access the AC97 audio section in the bios?

Thanks

Hi,

The IWill-board has no AC97 Audio support. It has a CMedia chip for the sound on it. This chip provides far better quality than the AC97. Also the CMedia chip does the sound in hardware whereas the AC97 does a great deal of calculations needed with the help of the processor, thus decreasing the system-performance.

I think they originally intended to use AC97 but then changed their mind. And since there is no AC97 there was no option neccessary in BIOS.

I use no joystick therefore i can't tell you detailed stuff..but there is a standard-gameport available in my device-manager...so i am not sure...try installing the sound drivers from your IWill CD again...might work

Boy is my face red! I went ahead an tired to install the MS Force Feedback drivers, and low and behold the joystick works fine. I thought the joystick would act like a PnP device, but I guess not. Win Me device manager showed the device as being present, so I just installed the drivers. Everything seems to be working fine now.

thanks to everyone for their help
