I have done my research this past year and this board seems to be the favorite. I want to know if I should get the ddr or the sdram board. I have everything I need except mobo, chip and case. I was wondering if there is a big difference between the ddr and the sdram board. I am going away to college and I want to o'c a t-bird, most likely a 1.2.

From what I recall reading (see front page, lots of stuff on this board by Joe and Ed.) There isn't a whole lot of performance difference with DDR on this board. But as the price is pretty much the same, if your buying now go for the DDR. Please check my facts as I don't always remember these thing correctly":O}

Ok, Thanks. What type of ddr ram should I get for this board? What chip would you recommend putting on it. Does it support higher than 1.2?

As to the DDR , I don't remember. As to the Chip, save your money, My 1.0 can run at Auto voltage at 1.5 gigs. Nic card forces me down to 1454, Sweet!":O} It supports up to 1.5 chips and higher......

What type of cooling do you have on that bad boy? What is it's code?

hey, can i get that old K6-3 from ya?

i use the KK266-R, and i'm happy..
i'd say DDR version, the KA266 would be a good buy...
but it depends on if you want to use your old RAM.

in my case i needed to.

Sorry I had an old signature, I already sold it to someone on this site. Thanks for the help. I am going to go with the KA-266R, now I just need to choose a chip and ram.

I don't know if I'd recommend the KA266 w/ddr memory. The DDR version of the board has the ALI MAGIK1 chipset, where as the SDRAM version has the VIA KT133A chipset. I don't know about anyone else out here, but I would take a VIA chipset over a ALI any day. Just something to look in to before you make your decision.
