Help????
I have converted over to AMD from Intel. After reading several of the reviews on the Iwill KK266-R (all positive), I decided to purchase the Iwill motherboard.
History –
The problem I am having is stability with the system. I had a lot of disk drive corruption problems. IE: CHKDSK would find errors and fix them. Sometimes my applications would work, sometimes they wouldn't. I have suspected a problem with the IDE drivers as I used the standard IDE drivers that MS-Win2k loads.
I have rebuilt the O/S twice trying to clear up the problems. No go, so I thought I would try the RAID-1 system. The original reason I bought the M/B in the first place.
I have now configured the system with two IBM 40 gigs ATA100 drives and still trying to bring my system backup it up.
I finally have been able to boot the system, but all of the drivers,
I.e.: RAID, video card, seems to like IRQ 11. I am not able to install my Network card (Linksys). It locks up my system. I have tried moving it to a different PCI slot. Still no go.
The problems:
1. AMImegaRAID on IRQ 11
CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device on IRQ 11
NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS on IRQ 11
VIA USB Universal host controller on IRQ 11.
They all seem to stack up on IRQ 11. IRQ 3,5,9,15 are open.
I have tried to point the SCSI to 15 in the BIOS and adjust
The registry pointer from 11 to 15. Still shows IRQ 15.
The IRQ will not change no matter what I do… Maybe it’s a sign I shouldn’t be changing it. By the way, I have dis-abled the secondary IDE feature in the BIOS, it uses IRQ 15.
2. Other Devices...
PCI Memory Controller comes up as unknown device?
USB Device comes up unknown. Trying to re-install USB
driver does not make the problem go away.
With regard to the USB, my USB mouse works ok.
3. Network card. Locks up the system when I try to install it.
Interesting point here, it worked before I installed the RAID driver. It doesn’t work now. Hmmmmm…..
4. AMI RAID. Examining the MegaRAID IDE Console. I have two errors
on Physical Drive #0. I have re-sync the errors come back. This has happened three times. I am not getting very warm feelings about this…
My wife tells me I should buy a new m/b for all of the time I have spent on this. I am not ready to pack it in yet...
Anyone have an idea(s) where I have taken the wrong turn(s)? I am sure they are many…
