i'm running raid0 right now... and my question is: can i use the raid ports as regular ide ports? like having 4 more ide devices... if so how do i use it in that fashion?

or are the raid ports only good as raid ports and nothing else?

thanks for any info.

that bites... seems like i'm s.o.l.

thanks for the reply...

yes you can! raid 0 with one drive is fine.

go to www.fullon3d.com and check out the FAQ

hey, thanks for the link... and it looks like i'm saved after all... i will do it when i have some time in a few days...

thanks again.

this may be a stupid Q, but we all have them... Do you need 2 identical HDDs to use RAID function? I have WD 15GB U100 7200 RPM and WD 30GB U100 7200 RPM drives. If I use RAID, then I lose 15GB of the 30GB? Also, is there any benefit of being able to have all devices as Primary drives HDD1, HDD2, CDRW, and DVD? (assuming I can manage to get the RAID IDE connectors to work without using RAID) as you mention... Otherwise, I won't waste the extra money for the RAID mobo...

you don't need 2 identical drives to use raid.
yes, you will lose 15gb if you use raid.
i don't think there'e any advantages to having everything as primary... none that i know of...

my only advantage now is that i can hook up 2 more devices and i'll have double my hd capacity back... w/o raid0.
