Well I finally got around to testing the memory timings on my kk-266r rev 1.2 with 256mb stick of tonicom pc166.
cpu = 1.2 ghz tbird
kk266r with iwill bios dated 3/5/01
1275 mhz cpu at 170 bus - cas2 - 4 way interleave
alu=640 fpu=740
kk266r with turkoc bios dated 2/27/01
1245 mhz cpu at 166 bus - cas2 - 4 way interleave - turbo
alu=671 fpu=783
This seems to be all my memory can muster and remain stable (or at least I hope it's stable as I just installed the turkoc bios). I even tried switching banks with the sdram but every bank can run at over 165 but none can run at 169. Now that is consistant
Hopefully next week I will get my new cpu as this 1.2 ghz 200 bus cpu is a duck and only reaches into the high 1200's
UPDATE:
well you can all throw these memory scores in the garbage. While they are stable in win98, they are NOT stable in a quake3 loop run for more than a few minutes
Sorry to get your hopes up. I am testing my pc for stability now and I will let you all know what the pc166 ram can do after I get it to run quake3 and unreal for several hours
If anyone knows a good program to test ram stability feel free to let me know.
ANOTHER UPDATE
Seems that my bumping up the I/O has caused the instability ! Now that I have brought the I/O back to stock, the scores I posted appear to be stable. I will tweak and test and post my memory scores and settings under a NEW heading sometime tonight after I test for stability. This overclocking is alot of work!!!
