Hi all,
Is it just me or do the drivers for XP not work?!
It looks like everything is fine, no conflicts etc. but no sound can be heard. Apps like Media Player or WinAmp 2.79 look like they play for 5 secs or so then lock up and crash. Sometimes locking the PC.

The C-media 8738 sound card is builtin to the mobo using a ribbon cable taking the 7th PCI slot.

I've downloaded the DOS drivers and got an MP3 playing through DOS fine.

In WinXP the I've installed the 5-12-2001.632 and the previous drivers also.

I've gone through FAQs at Iwill's site (www.iwill.net) and www.X-Faqtor.com too.

But they all state success with the new XP drivers, and not the problems I'm having.

If the card works in DOS then it can't be faulty can it?

The kit I have is the iWill KK266Pro-R mobo
Athlon 1.2 Ghz CPU
bus running at 100 Mhz and no overclocking set .. YET!

Any help would be nice,
cheers

You try running Windows Update and check the Device Drivers listing? They offer a 0653 C-media driver, which is newer than the drivers offered at www.c-media.com.tw ?

I use these 0635 drivers in WinXP, they work excellent! :D
