a friend of mine is looking to get a "IWILL SIDE-RAID 100 High Point HPT370 IO CONTROLLER" and wanted me to check it out first. it looks pretty good, but i want to see if anyone has any personal expierence with one of them? if so, is it good, bad, a pain to use, anything. and can it be used as just a regular ide controller if so desired?
thanks

Go for it. It's a great solution for those that have a motherboard without on board raid.

Although I have never used the IWill card, my motherboard has onboard RAID that utilized the HPT370 chipset and it is outstanding.

I have 2 SideRAID66 cards and as far as quality goes, they're as good as any.

The 100 model could only be as good or better. In my opinion, about all IDE RAID controllers based on the HPT370 controller are about the same anyway.
