After installing drivers for Soundblaster Live in Win2000, computer will not load completely. Gets almost there and reboots. Uninstall SB drivers and all is well. Win2000 with SP2, KK266 with 1333 T-Bird, bios has been flashed to v.0426. I thougt that v.0426 was supposed to take care of the SB problem. I have read the faq but don't see what to do after the bios update. Do you still need to apply the VIA Patch? Help me please.

You should be fine! that is weird you did everything correctly and you still have the sblive problems! which version of the drivers are you using. I would post this in teh amdmb.com forums too since this may have happened to other iwill users. I stuck with the onboard sound and it is not too bad! check it out if you haven't already.

I did post there at the same time I posted here. No replys yet. The drivers are the one's that come on the LiveWare 2000 cd that came with the card. Was trying to d/l latest from Creative last night when storn knocked out the power. I don't understand why I am having this problem. Like you said, I did what is posted to do. I don't really want to go to the onboard sound and let a $200.00 sound card sit on my desk, if you know what I mean. I will just dump 2000 and go back to ME or 98SE if I cannot solve this.
ps. the boot problem happened at 1333 (default) all the way up to 1600, didn't matter what speed I was at.

I don't know if this will help but it worked for me under win 98, if you put the SB Live card in the 4th pci slot down from the top it seems not to conflict with any thing. I found it to be the most stable place to put the pain in the but SB and yes I know what you meen about 200 busk you can'y use. Well try this and I hope it works for you.

I gave up the other nite. When I turned it on yesterday AFTER uninstalling the Creative drivers, the sound was fine. I wonder if the Creative drivers were conflicting with the WDM driver and causing the restart? I am new to 2000 and do not understand this whole wmd driver thing. All I know is I was getting the stuttering sound so I updated the bios to take care of it. Then, only sound I got came out of the sub, nothing out of regular speakers, hence I tried to update the drivers. You know the rest. Now if someone will tell me the best ide drivers to be using. The Via Busmaster is working BUT does not enable the settings options for my DVD and burner. But I guess that is another question.

Had enough of Win2000. Here comes the F-BOMB. BOOOOM!!!!!!!
