Just bought BE6 II R2...did I get a steal, a deal, or did I get it for average $$

I finally opened up the wallet...??? ??? Gawd, I've been wanting one of these for soooooooo long!!

Found a BE6 II R 2 motherboard on e-BAY, and the guy selling is throwing in a stick of Kingston PC133 (128MB) with the board. I'm getting it for $109.00 shipped.

As I'm really not sure of the retail price of one of these, I don't know exactly how good of a deal I just got. I suspect I got a really good one though. I went to BestBuy earlier this week to pick up a stick of PC133 (128MB) while they've got them on sale (they were sold out when I went though), and would have paid $30 for it. So, let's knock that of the $$ I paid for the board + SDRAM combo I'm getting.

Removing the SDRAM like this, would mean I paid $79.00 shipped for the board. This is the ATA100/RAID version of the BE6 II.

I'm just curious if this is as good a deal as I think it is.....=) I honestly don't know what these retail for.

It's used and comes only with the driver cd, no cables (I have them anyways) or manual. This I really could use, as I have no idea on how a RAID setup works.... I've been looking everywhere online for a downloadable copy of the manual for this motherboard and thus far cannot find one. Does anyone know where one might be found?? I can find the manual for the BE6 II (w/o ATA100/RAID) everywhere....

ftp://ftp.univ-lille1.fr/pub/abit/manual/english/be6-IIe.pdf

I think this is the right manual it shows 4 ide controllers.

Thanks Placid, but nope, that's the one I can find everywhere...=(

That's the BE6 II with the ATA66 only Highpoint 366 controller. The board I'm getting had the Highpoint 370 ATA100/RAID controller onboard.

Thanks for the help though. Greatly appreciated. It is a bit strange, I think, that Abit has the motherboard manual in a PDF downloadable file at their site for every board but this one (BE6 II Revision 2.0).....

For that board you use the BE6 II manual along with the addendum to it which is basically the manual for the HPT370 RAID controller.

You can get this manual here from Abit.

Don't ask how I found it...it was buried mighty deep...

Jon, you are a Godsend!! Thanks soo much!! I couldn't find this file to save my soul....don't know where/how ya found it, but I'm sure glad you did. I printed it out already.

Now I'll beat the ca-ca out of my ink cartridge and print the 122 page full manual... ???

Thanks again!!

Looks like a nice find Mr. B!!

Do me a favor, i have a cb0 700 p3 that I had on the exact same mobo! I could never get it to run with the inline queue depth set at 8, Stable. this was on a abit slocket III. Let me know how you make out with you set up and if it runs stable with the inline queue depth set at 8 on your soltek slocket!

Knowing what I've read on that Abit !!! slotket, it just might have been the slotket giving you the problems. Actually, I'm having trouble getting this one to 133 stable myself. I don't think it's the Soltek, though. We'll see soon...

Sure, I'll be posting my findings when the board gets here. I just sent out the $$ this morning, so I'll probably see the board in about 10-12 days. (I hope) ???

Hi Mr B,

I think you should get the Asus S370-DL Slotket because it's more stable than the Abit Slotket III I used before and the CPU runs cooler because there's no plastic chassis around the card.

Hope I could help you. Just my opinion.

I couldn't agree more. I'm actually using a Soltek SL02A++ slotket, and the Abit !!! I had I got rid of in the PC I built for a guy I work with...(hehehehe) Not to worry, though, I had the slotket/chip/hsf combo running myself for a while, and it IS stable (C600 @ 945), so I'm not going to be getting "tech support" calls at 2 AM for that part, anyways (WinME is a whole different story, however.... ??? ).

Good deal...
I paid $99 + tax for each of mine, and that was on sale.
I have not had any problems with either one of mine, I have had problems with the Abit !!! sloket though.... Got rid of that sloket and the board will run as fast as my ram and cpu will allow...

Now I'm REALLY lookin' forward to this board. I got a new full tower case late last week, and spent Saturday moving the guts of my rig into it. I plan on using my mid tower as a test rig, so I can leave my main the heck alone, and stop all the #$^(*%^%^ formatting and reinstalling.... lol

I dug out the Soyo 6BA+III board I had my Celeron 600 running at 1053 on, and started setting that up in the mid tower. Man, I'd forgotten just how good the ol' BX chipset is. I no longer have the Celeron set up in the slotket, I've got the P/// 700E mounted in it. I'd been having problems getting this to run at 933 on this foolish Asus P3C2000 (i820 Camino chipset). I nudged the vcore a touch higher than I'd like, but have 971MHz (138.7 FSB) and it appears fairly stable. The BE6 II is a much better board than this one is, too. I just hope it's 5 MHz of FSB better.... 143 FSB is the magic number with the 700E. We'll see.....

Now I need to get a second slotket for the C600, and another cd-rom.....
