Because the version you played, presumably the Doom3 "leaked" Alpha, is an unlawful verison, which is bad. id did not mean to have it released and who ever released it, breached a contract. Thus it is illegal.

It doesn't matter as to "what you need to buy", it is an Alpha as in a rough version, that wont tell you much about how it will run, when the final version they will/should release a DEMO, which is what you use to see if your rig handles it.

The "alpha" version of D3 is not indicative of actual gameplay in the final version. The leaked version is so incredibly old that it doesn't even have three quarters of the rendering options enabled (a CVAR dump shows that, technically, only the Standard_GL, Parhelia and R200 rendering paths are active, all others (to include NV20, NV15, NV30, GL2 and something else I'm forgetting) are completely missing and cannot be enabled.

Even if you force an r_use NV20, it still defaults right back to standard GL.

There are far too many things missing in the Alpha to even call it relevant to "real life" performance.

I remember when I beta tested for ut2k3, it ran pretty bad but when the final product came out it ran alot smoother than it did during beta test. so u can't really judge performance from betas or in this case alphas and I agree we should not discuss leak software/games on the forum.

The 9700 wasnt even released when this was leaked, if i remember correctly I could be wrong but I don't think I am although that doesnt mean much .

It was, but it doesn't matter. The alpha is considered warez, so the mods really don't like this sort of stuff being discussed.

People get in seriours trouble just making threads about then downloading a movie from e.g. Kazaa... Because its warez....

And this was leaked last year.... its stupid that everyone downloads it and tells everyone how great it is... its only a Alpha.... wait until the proper release... lets see how your card will run then?

vinny, do you not realize that you are breaking the law? I know there are probably more people in here who have "warez" but they do not openly admit they do. What is bad is that your ip is tracked...and easily traced by law enforcement agents (although copyright infringement is a civil suit and not criminal unless there are multiple cases).

Doom III alpha talk is not a welcome topic on this forum. It's considered warez, and we have a strict no warez/piracy rule here.

I would suggest you go back and read the forum rules. Y'know, that page that you quickly skipped by on your way to registering.
