Needed a new card mine went AWOL. I picked up a VistekMX440 and its not bad. The card is HUGE though, about 1/2 time bigger than my old GF2 mx400 and has no HS/F attatched..weird.

The only main deiiference Ive noticed is the textures look a bit better, smoother. FPs for half life engine is same, but was higher in games utilizing Q3 technology. Not a bad buy.

That's not a real GF4... it's a GF2MX sped up a little bit. The GF4 Ti's are the real GF4's.

You should return it and pick up a GF3 Ti200 for the same price... it's MUCH MUCH MUCH faster, supports DX 8.1, and can OC easily to Ti500 speeds for about $150.

The GF3 Ti200 would definitely be a better buy. The GF4 MX440 is based on the old technology and is just a suped up GF2 MX.

Yes, the GeForce 4 MX440 is utilizing the NV17 core whereas the GeForce 4 Ti series uses the NV25 core. NV17 is GeForce 2. Oh well, as long as you are happy with it.

You already have it so unless you can take it back for a gf3 ti200 then make the best of it and get it to run as fast as you can. BTW I am getting 9120 in 3dmark2001 and the mx will not touch that as well as many of the abilities of the gf4 which the mx does not incorporate. If you can take it back and upgrade then do so, if you can't then I am happy for you and play with it. Should be able to break 5,000 or so.

lol Im only using it until I have to return it which according to Best Buy is 14 days. Hell no if Im spending money on a new card im getting a Ti4400. I was basically just commenting on it. I needed a card to hold me over till my next paycheck =)

I do notice a great improvement with it regardless, my GF2 was 200/160 this is 250/400. My old card couldnt handle stuff like smoke or alot of on screen action it would slow down bad, must be the ddr memory.

:). Glad to hear... when I went to my local store tons of people were thinking the GF4 MX was a real GF4 and snatching them up like wildfire (the Ti's were out of stock...). Amazing how the name fools so many people :(.

And that is really, really sad. Nvidia is getting over on this one right now however when all wise up there may be a cry against them.

Hey, if they don't do there homework who's fault is that? Personally I never buy anything without reading up about it first and then price shopping.

What better tool to do that with than the internet, I reccomend this forum to any friends who are learning about computers.

I fully agree however the "normal" consumer would consider that the gf2 was better than the mx, the gf3 better than the gf2 and of course therefore the gf4 is better than the gf3. This of course does not take a "rocket scientist" to figure out, right. Wrong!!!
