I just purchased a K7VZA motherboard and 1.333 Ghz. Thunderbird AYHJA processor together and built a new system. However I am having a problem. When I turned on the pc for the first time I got nothing, no POST code beeps and no video. The hsf is seated correctly and works fine. The hard drive spins and it appears that the system should be booting, but it's not. I tried 2 different video cards (one AGP and one PCI) and have tried various memory configurations (128MB (2), 256MB both pc133). I have stripped the pc down to nothing and put it back piece by piece and still nothing. Any suggestions?

I think the motherboard may be defective, but unfortunately I have no way to test it right now. I did order myself a Duron 750 Mhz for $36 from www.compgeeks.com but I wont have it untill Wednesday. I guess I can try it then. I contacted the place I purchased it from, www.bzboyz.com, and thought it might be the motherboard, but if I send back the motherboard and it's not defective then they charge 35 bucks for testing it. Oh well, I guess I'll get it figured out. =)

Welcome to the forum!

You might try putting it together outside of the case. I've read a couple posts tonight where the mobo was shorting out where it is attached to the case. If it works outside the case, then you have a short somewhere, so you should use some sort of insulated screws to attach it.

Good luck

Unfortunately, I tried that. But thanks for trying to help. Guess I'll just have to wait till I get that Duron. Oh, my power supply is 300W. It's recommended on AMD's site for up to 1Ghz. You dont think that could be the problem do you? I wasnt running anything at all though during most of my tries.

Well...I just went out and bought another motherboard. Iwill kk266 and I bought a new 400W power supply. I get the same problems I had before. I do notice now that the keyboard lights flash on briefly but I can't get them to come on any more after that. The processor gets warm but I guess I got a bad processor chip. I sure hope they will take the chip back.
