I'm having problems with this new build. With both the 20-pin and 4-pin power plugs connected, pressing the power button yields no results. When I take out the 4-pin plug, the fans start to spin then immediately die down. All I've got connected so far are the CPU, memory, and video card. I'm guessing I need a stronger power supply. What do you guys think?

300w is nor enough, 420 is minimum

That's not particularly true. I was running off of the Antec TruePower 380s before upgrading to my Powerstream and the big reason I upgraded is because I'm waiting for the Venices.

What are the ratings on the rails of your PSU? 3.3v, 5v, 12v?
