KD7 - northbridge has no thermal paste

I just bought Abit kd7-raid and read a few reviews. On one of them they mentioned that the northbridge had no thermal paste.

So I checked my own - removed the fan and there was no thermal paste!
No wonder the Sys Temp was 52 C!!!
I put Arctic silver 3...

My old board KG7 had thermal paste.
I don't know why Abit decided to go without a paste...

So if you have new board from abit better check this.

You can easily check even without removing the fan. It has not very tight plastic screws so you can grab the heatsink and move it around.
If it has no paste it will move easily in all directions including up. If it has paste it will move smooth and will not move up.

Just wanted to warn you all...

System temp sensor on most Abit boards are near the AGP slot on the edge of the mobo it is however a good idea to always have thermal compound on the NB since it does have a HSF.
