Hey to all,
Been doin seti since may '99 and ready to switch over to overclockers team.
Problems are; lost password (no recovery possible),changed isp, transferred seti
to other drive when I reformatted, uninstall and seti help not functional after
reloading on my drive.(Program still runs good though!)

Questions; can I just delete all seti files and download new account(new email
ad) and proceed to credit new w/us to the oc team or are there perils to just
deleting seti files?

Muchas grass for any help

Did The Same Thing

I am in the same situation as you are. I have another account registered under a different email addy and have NO IDEA what the password to it is, so I just registered my present account under my current email addy and started crunching for OCers. After a WU is given out to a client for a given amount of time and not returned SETI @ Home presumes it Missing In Action and puts it back in the pool and gives it to someone else.

Hey skyhook,
I only have 1 account with them and it was dormant for 3 months but it fired right back up when I got back online. So you had 2 accounts on 1 computer? Must have a baada$$ dual proc. sonofagun there dude :)j/k

really my main concern is deleting my current seti without the uninstall prog and then loading a new one.....Am I gonna have conflicts with doing that?

Thanks for the input bro..I'm listening!

No

No, you can delete any of those SETI @ Home files because SETI does not do anything as far as Windows' registry is concerned.

I would recommend using the CLC version of the SETI software for the best speed. The STICKY thread at the top of this topic has good instructions for setting everything up.

Just Reread Your Last Post

No, I didn't have two accounts going at once, about a year ago I had an account with another team that went belly up and then I got tied up and was away from SETI until just a couple of weeks ago. When I tried to switch affiliations on my other account was when I became aware that the email on that account no longer existed so I could not get my password to change it. So I just cleaned out everything and started fresh. I only lost 42 WUs, but sure wished I had them in my total now.

delete all your old stuff
follow the sticky instructions

you will crunch a unit in about 7- 7.5 hours each

I've found that this board (the people who frequent it) are always most helpful even with the most trivial/STUPID questions. I have learned alot from some drunk lurking here:)

Also Mr.lonewolf I'm gettin about 6-6.5 hrs. per w/u on the old 3.03 Maybe I'll do better w/3.07?
again..grasseeus

IRC

Boy that stirs up some old memories. I used to spend quite abit of time on DalNet, but haven't really even thought about that for some time now. IRC, at least that part I was aware of turned to a VERY young crowd and I just didn't seem welcome or even comfortable interacting with most of the people I encountered. That's another reason I like it here, age doesn't seem to be such an issue.

Thanks For the Memories
