Hello,

I bought the Abit KR7A-RAID motherboard and the AMD Athlon XP 2000+ CPU. I just noticed that Abit's website lists this particular motherboard's CPU support as:

Support AMD Athlon XP 1500+ ~1900+/AMD Athlon 700MHz~1.4GHz or future Socket A
CPU based on 200/266MHz (100MHz/133MHz Double Data Rate);

The company I bought the board from installed the chip and a stock HSF on it for me. Now I am wondering if this CPU is even supported. Does the KR7A-RAID board support the Athlon XP 2000+ yet? Is there a bios upgrade I will need to do or something? Thanks..

Sure the board got multiplier up to 13 so probably they set up as user define settings in the bios running at 133x12.5 i don't think theres any problem.

If you have an older bios, then you could update it, and it will have the 2000+ under the bios to switch to. I have the 6n bios. Hope it works out for you. Great board though

Hey bro, I have the non-raid KR7A with a Xp2000. I had to flash/upgrade my bios before it would recognize my Xp2000. I put the Xp2k in before the bios flash and my mobo ran it as a XP1900. No joke. THe bios flash fixed it easy enough. I unlocked it and I have ahd it up to 1,815 mhz real clock speed. The farthest I have been able to FSB my memory is 175. I think my pci or agp slots are holding me back in that area. I wish Via would provide some dividers past 1/4.

I have an XP 1800+ on the Kr7a-133 Raid, and I jumped the FSb to 145 to make it 1.67 Ghz and the motherboard recognizes it as XP 2000+. So You shouldn't have any probs

hehe. but it might be worth it to make sure that they actually gave you a 2000+ XP chip, instead of an o/c'd 1800 or 1900

Simply put, if you have an older bios (pre-xp2000) as I did on my kr7a it won't recognize it as a xp2000.

If it is a newer bios (post-xp2000) then it will recognize it as a XP2000.

If you have an older bios and want your mobo/bios to recognize it for what it is, thenflash yuor bios with a newer version.

krag & Xantec - Both of you are in violation of sig rules, shorten them & take out the links. Would you rather have a mod erase it for you?[

What do you mean signature rules? Is the font to big? If it is how do I change it?

Hows that? I shortened it but I can't figure out how to decrease the font. I read the post that was linked but I couldn't understand how to decrease the font, it was a bit confussing. Maybe you could tell me how?

I tried making a doc in word with 8 font and cut & paste but that didn't work either.

ahh. ok. thnx for the link to the sig rules. had someone tell me my previous sig was no good, so i shortened it, but didn't know about the links.
You guys are great for complying with the rules.

All you need to do now is to delete all your posts in this thread regarding your sigs so we can clean it up for the guy with a problem. I will delete this also. Thanks Guys:beer:
