Ok well i had a KT7A-Raid , but it got messed up so i put my old KT7-Raid mobo in,and now i'm havin probs with it.

It starts up fine but when, its about to go to windows, i get this Green Bar across the top of my screen and i see my pointer and hourglass, like its loading somethin, so a few times i left it alone ,but it stayed that way for hrs.

So when i hit reset, it says that windows did not load on the previos attempt and must be started in Safe mode. So i start it safe mode then i restart it and its fine. Also sometimes i choose normal mode and it also comes in fine.

I've got the latest 4n1 drivers for it, its just drivin me nuts. Sometimes i have to do these steps about 10 times before i see windows.

I also have W98se , if it helps any.

The green bar is caused by a problem with the MS tape backup drivers. At least that's what Pauls unofficial KT7 FAQ states. There are some dll's that need pulled out in order to start correctly. Can't remember the exact one's but if you goto the FAQ it'l tell you exactly what you need to know.

u have a link? also i tried reinstalling W98se again n it said that it couldn't , even though i had anti-virus stuff turned off, this is weird.

I get a blue screen with a green line at the top after restarting.
Tape detection seems to cause this problem. Removing MSBackup will not solve this problem in itself, and so it is necessary to remove, or preferably rename, the following files.

[C:\windows\inf ]
pnpwfdc.inf
pnpwide.inf
pnpwtape.inf
pnpwppt.inf

[C:\windows\system\iosubsys ]
drvwq117.vxd
drvwppqt.vxd
drvwcdb.vxd

You can rename these files to anything you like (I recommend appending .old to the filename) - you're just stopping Windows from find them. See also "Windows 98 hangs or reboots during startup or at desktop!" below.

Alternatively, if you require these files for use with your tape drive (eg. with a Ditto Max tape drive) then you can append the line "DMABufferSize=64" to the "[386Enh]" section of the system.ini file.

Hope this fixes it for you. Good luck.
