... so before I overclock I want to make this stable.
What could it be?
My temps are fine below 50°C.
I installed ZT BIOS from VIA + latest 4in1 drivers + SP2 for Win2k,
Set all recommended BIOS settings.
Tried disabling ACPI etc. etc.
It still locks up randomly.
U got any knowledge about this?
It's driving me crazy since several months.

Thx,
Digit

PS: the 1013th forum I ask this. :(

Welcome to the forum

Is there anymore you can tell us about your system, to allow us to help you better. The more information you provide the better the responce we will be able to provide. The temprature you quote is that on idle or load ? and what does it relate to.. CPU temp or System temp ?

Thanks for this.

So first I will give the full specs of my System (see signature)
plus
PSU 250W (seems low?)

OpSystem ist Win2k with SP2, post SP2 hotfixes and the AMD AGP hotfix

Temperatures: (idle/100%) in °C
Mainbord: 24 / 24
CPU1: 36 / 37
CPU2: 41 / 52

updated to VIA's ZT BIOS and using all required stability settings;
installed ABIT's 4in1 drivers (but AGP turbo mode) v4.32;
tried to disable ACPI and securing the right IRQ usage, it helped nothing;
raised Core Voltage to 1.89V and I/O Voltage to 3.5V, still lockups

The lockups occure to different times. On idle mode or full usage. I can't get any reasons why this happens. Is it some hardware conflict? Is it the software, SP2 or something like this?
Sometimes I leave the computer alone, get back and its locked with no prggs running.

Thanks in advance,
Digit

yes welcome from me too,
what kind of ram are you using?i had 256 micron and a choice of 2 rev 1.5 mushkin and i was locking up everyday around 5 times.I returned nearly all my components [under warranty!] but still locked up. then i took out the mushkin and its fine! Im so f*****g happy man. see if you can swap ram with a friend to see what happens,[try to get a good brand module though].... i used to lock while on the net like i am now and i could only use Ctrl Alt Del to restart my system.but its gone now man and kickin ***! let us know so we can try to help you
goodluck

Hm,
I got a noname 256MB PC133 RAM module. Somebody already mentioned this in another forum advising me to test my RAM, but the TestIt-Tool didn't found any problems with this, even after a long run test with no lockup.
Besides my lockups are a bit different. I cannot reboot by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del. Only the Reset button helps.
But I will consider the option of changing the RAM module.

I forgot: I'm not using USB-ports. I know they cause problems sometimes, so I left them blank.

Thanks,
Digit

Thanks!

That's definitly what I'm trying to do next.
