Guys,
I need a bit of help on this one. How do I set up a RAID 0 array from scratch with 2 brand new Western digital HDD? No windows install present. i.e what order. So far I'm thinking.
1.) 2 drives on IDE 3 (orange connector), boot from floppy and fdisk both drives.
2) use HPT BIOS software to create array.
3) CD rom on IDE1 as master, run setup.exe from windows CD.

Doesn't seem to be working so far. I've already tried using the EZ install floppy that came with the WD drives but it isn't bootable as it claims.

EDIT: Should RAID drives be set as master/slave as with normal dual drives?

Please help if you can!

Abit KT7A R
AXIA 1000MHz
256Mb micron PC133 RAM
40* SONY CD ROM
Iomega ZIP CD
2* 30Gb Western digital HDD
GTS 2 32Mb
Win ME
Etc.

Thanks for that one matey. Great site, great advice and now my RAID is working no problem. Turned out my problem was trying to run an array with both drives on the same channel! DOH!

Can't believe how much quicker my disks are now! I've gone from an ATA16 200Mb drive to RAID 0 7200rpm ATA 100. Massive difference. I'll try and post some comparitive bench marks for you to laugh at once I've finished installing everything.

a 200 mb drive? that's pretty small, and ata16. geez. No wonder you are seeing such a big diff.
