I got into a discussion about this board today and someone told me it would not support ECC and registered dimm. Anyone know if this is true and if so why is that and what problems could you expect to run into if you used it? Thx...

The manual makes not mention of this and only states :-

This motherboard provides three 168-pin DIMM sites for memory expansion. The DIMM sockets support 1Mx64 (8MB), 2Mx64 (16MB), 4Mx64 (32MB), 8Mx64 (64MB), 16Mx64 (128MB), 32Mx64 (256MB) and 64Mx64 (512MB) or double sided DIMM modules. Minimum memory size is 8mb and maximum is 1.5GB SDRAM. There are three memory modules on the system board. (Total six banks)

In order to create a memory array, certain rules must be followed. The following set of rules allows for optimum configurations.
The memory array is 64 or 72 bits wide (depending with or without parity)
Those modules should be populated in DIMM1 to DIMM3 by orders
Supports single and double dendity DIMMS

- The rest of the information on the RAM concerns fitting, perhaps it may be worth checking the Abit website or emailing them

seems like i remember reading buffered or not will not use buffering.

Hmm...so unbuffered = unregistered? All these different characteristics of memory get confusing when you start exploring this realm.
