KT7A-Raid voltage modification problem

I recently did the voltage modification on my motherboard. Everything went fine, but when I started my machine, no boot, hard drives won't fire. I'm connected to pin 7 of the 6301
controller 30k resistor to ground. The only thing I did different here is connect the lead
wire to pin 7 instead of the contact point on the motherboard. When I pull the resistor out
of the plug the machine boots fine. Please help
 
Take the fixed resistor out and get a rheostat so you can adjust it. Your board may also be hitting the overvoltage protection in which case you need to connect a pot between pin 10 and ground. Colin has posted on this many times and can explain it much better than I, if you search this forum for his post you will find all the info to do the mod correctly.
 
Use a 47K trimmer instead of the resistor. Boot your machine with the trimmer set at full resistance, start VIA Hardware Monitor and set the polling interval to 2 seconds. Slowly turn the trimmer until your voltage hits 2.1 volts. If you go much higher, the computer will reboot. If this happens, just back the trimmer off a tad. Most boards are stable at 2.1 volts although some will do 2.12. Any higher voltage and you need to put a trimmer between pin 10 and ground to raise the maximum voltage threshold. The part number for the trimmer at the Shack is 271-283.

try thr steps here.
and replace the reisitors with pods.
4.5kohms for the voltage regulator.
5kohms for the vcore.
and it is a good idea to build on to a PCB with dipp switchs so that u can turn it off and on.
the best way to do the settings r to have the pods at the max reisitance and disabled when booting in to the bios .
then when u r in the monitoring section of the bios ,turn the dipp switchs on and increase the pod for the vcore bit by bit.
as the the vcore goes up u`ll c it in the bios.
and when the vcore has been raised to certain point.(1.85v).
then thios is a good time to decrease the resistance for the regulator.
try it at 4kohm and then increase the vcore.
back and forth and so on.

Dip switches, resistors, pots? This is getting way to complex. All you need is two 49 cent trimmers from Radio Shack, a little wire, a small piece of breadboard to mount the trimmers on and some Velcro to stick the breadboard to your motherboard tray. A dab of silicone or epoxy to act as strain relieve for the wires is good idea too.

Regarding well intentioned articles by ill informed authors recommending fixed resistors, let the reader beware. Not all motherboards, even those from the same manufacturer, respond to the same resistance. Some of the newer KT7 series require less resistance. Recommending the use of a fixed resistor is irresponsible. I have lost count of the number of people I have helped though various forums and email to repair the damage done by following the advice of these online voltage mod guides. Remember, the folks writing these articles have probably only done one or two boards.
