L2 Cache on tbird

i've been wondering about something i read one day somewhere (cant remember where though)

something about the L2 cache, that if i o/c the chip can i turn the L2cache from 1/1 to 1/2 (or lower)
how can i do this??

the cache divisior is a feature of Socket A "classic" Athlons only, all thunderbirds have on die cache that runs at full processor speed. The socket A "classic" Athlons used external cache chips that could only run at a divisor of the cpu speed <300 mhz was about the max for them> so when overclocking a classic athlon the cache divisor had to be lowered or the cache was the limiting factor on the cpu.

hmm....

that sux....... i can reach 950 on my 800 with 1.85v, but @1000 it starts locking up.

Have you tried raising the FSB at 9.5?

through bios??
i can only reach like 98X something like that, there is an option on the mobo to set it 133, but it dont boot....

but i read that it wasnt good for the HD if the FSB is too high.....

Any part of a system can have problems running above spec'd speeds. It pays to buy the quality stuff if you overclock. I don't know what HD you have, so it may or may not have problems. You never know until you try
