Im building a SLI system and am considering to get one of those Utra boards if the ones that are shipped out nowadays are still modable. Does anyone got some information on that?

:welcome: (havent been around for a week and have not see any of your post before)

The newer ones are NOT moddable...and if you do happen to get one that is moddable...good luck on getting SLI to work with the newer drivers...the last I knew Nvidia put a patch on the older drivers so the SLI mod would not work with them now also...but I am sure you could still find some non modded drivers...but none of the newer drivers will support the modded boards in SLI

What are you talking about? As far as I know, Nvidia hasn't disabled the HARDWARE mod. The ability to use SLI drivers on the Ultra board to have and sli board has been disabled for a while. I did the hardware mod, but my board is still being recognized as an Ultra. I think I need some conductive paint.

Thanks mate!

I assume you are talking about the 16x/2x SLI "software mod" and not the hardware mod, that is sait to effectively convert a NF4 Ultra to a SLI chipset? I heard that NVidia disabled that in later drivers, but Im not interested in running in this mode anyway.

When did you purchase your board? If its an older one you most probably didnt do the mod properly..

Just ordered the board, I will let you guys know whether I could successfully mod it into SLI.

I recieved my board this past thursday, ordered monday. No on else has reported a non moddable board. The abiltity to do the mod hasn't changed, so unless Nvidia did something inside the Northbridge itself, it is still moddabel. I will try using a very very small piece of copper wire and some tape as a temporary solution until I get to radioshack for a CircuitWriter. Right now, I am trying to get my TwinMos to work, and I don't have two cards, so it isn't bugging me ATM.

Just use a #2 pencil, thats what i did and its working just fine.
As far as nvidia disabling it via drivers, i do believe thats impossible, the board BECOMES a SLI board. But youre still lacking the bridge, and i have tried everything i could think of to get it working without a sli bridge but failed patheticaly. (If anyone knows how bloody tomshardware did it...!)

You could send an email to dfi support saying there wasn't one with your board and ask to get one. It worked for me:)

As for the pencil thing I tried three times with 3 different #2 pencils and I wore out the lead the last time still booted as ultra. I finally just dabbed the bridge with a inductive soldering iron and a tiny bead of solder. First try and and the deed is done.

Now I just need to figure out whether I need a psu with more juice to get the ram I was going to use to work in dual mode. It was fine in single but can't boot windows when they are dual.

bridges are in the works

Just wanted to add that the mod worked for me. Yesterday I finally received the last part I needed to assemble my system and at POST I was greeted with the "nForce4 SLI" message. I used conductive paint to bridge the both contacts. My motherboard is from the revision AA0.

 Good to know. I ordered mine yesterday :)

Where did you get the board from?

Finally got mine semi-running, still have some case-mods and other tweaking to finish, but my SLI conversion went smooth. Bought mine from Newegg and bridged it with a pencil, works awesome

Awesome, I have an AA0 board also and it didn't look like anything was blocking the way of the bridge that needed to be filled. If/when I ever decide to get another GFX card I may do that........ or if I feel greedy when replacing my chipset fan in another month when a new Zalman one hits market.
