I am looking for some information on lapping. I have read the posts here, and am still a little wary of it. I found an article with step-by-step procedures but I can't find it. Does anyone have a link to a good instruction page? And is it really worth it? Thanks!

Lapping may reduce your temperatures by a degree or two, and if you want to do it there's a quick guide at http://www.athlonoc.com/lap.htm . I wouldn't lap socket cpus though as they're more easily damaged than the 'old' slot cpus - I dunno for sure, I just heard it from a few people and I personally don't want to take the risk. Lapping your heatsink is definitely a good idea though, unless it's really well finished like the alpha's are.
