I am considering getting a laptop. I am a gamer, and play World of Warcraft ALL the time. So, I want the laptop to be able to handle WoW easily. I am looking into the AMD 64bit laptop setups, and upgrade the RAM to the 1GB range. My desktops run an x800xl and WoW runs great. I have built quite a few desktops, is it possible to install an aftermarket graphics card in a laptop with my prior DESKTOP experience. Also, what would be a good, cost-effective graphics card? Thanks in advance

nvidia in particular was talking about mini pci-e (ages ago) to allow for upradeable laptop graphics cards, but i don't think any machines have shipped with it yet, and I'm almost certain that no cards are avaliable that use the interface. I'd say either wait, or grab a 6800 mobile, they are the same NV42 chipset that powers the hugely overclockable 6800GS, and about the equal a X800XL, and probably better in OGL.

SO they DO make aftermarket grpahics cards for laptops? If so, can you direct me to a link or where to look?

Also, are they fairly easy to install? As I said, my desktop experience is extensive, although the only thing I've done to a LAPTOP is RAM upgrade.

The Dell Inspiron 9300 has upgradable video up to a max of an nvidia 7800gtx I belive, but you can get it from dell with an x300 or 6800 go I think
