I got a question (possibly a dumb one). I have an HP ze5000 series notebook and I've had it as my main computer for like 2 years now. The screen on it is pretty good except for the backlight flickering every now and then. It has a native resolution of 1400x1250 and it's only 15" (not widescreen). I keep it at that resolution and the color and sharpness are beautiful.

I just built my desktop as shown below b/c I don't want to use my laptop all the time since it's more prone to breaking. I have a small college appartment, the desktop is hooked to my old Gateway 17" moniter which can do up to 1280x1024, and it's taking up my ENTIRE desk. Although, I am currently broke and lookingat about $1000 to fix up my car (not including Tien suspension  ), I was taking a look at some LCD moniters to hook up to the desktop.

I went around looking and I didn't like what I saw. I don't want to go above a 17" LCD on my budget, I'd rather something small with a high resolution. I see 15s with only 1024x768 resolutions and 17s with only 1280x1024 resolutions....

Anyway, why can they make a 15" laptop moniter go up to 1400x1050 while a desktop 15" LCD is only avail @ 1024x768?
