For about two weeks, now, I've been having a problem where if I change my screen settings from anything but 1400x1050 on my laptop, the screen will shrink! Like if I put it in 640x480, and I measure the length/height of the visible desktop there is, it's like 5"x4"! Does anyone know how to get rid of this setting and have the resolution stretch to the screen? It worked just fine for the first 8 months of having this laptop, then a few weeks after installing XP I get this!

I had the same problem after upgrading my toshiba tecra from win 98 (sucks) to win 2k, i've got the drivers from toshiba's site and everything went into normal. I will suggest you go to your notebooks manufacture's support site and get the latest drivers for win xp. :)

You cant change the res on LCD screens. If you go higher it will scroll around the screen, and if you go lower, it will shrink.

Pig - not true. I use LCD Monitors all the time. Most of them will change the picture size accordingly. Sometimes it gets blocky though.

You can change the res, but the monitor will have to stretch the picture to make it fit, which can make it get blurry or chunky.
