Howdy - I'm testing a new Dell Inspiron 7559 laptop for a friend. It's 33c at idle. In Prime95 and Coretemp to monitor. When the torture test starts, CPU temp goes up to 95C but then goes down to 68C and, after 30 minutes, stabilizes at 72C. Is the momentary spike normal and does this have a long-term effect on stability?

Thanks!

You can't prevent the spike; the whole cooling system takes time to absorb that heat from the CPU and then dissipate it to the air. That's just physics. That it takes 30 minutes to stabilize is the potential problem. As ATMINSIDE said, try replacing various gunk.
