I just bought one of these cards, and I should have it tomorrow. I was just wondering if anyone else has one and how they like it.

Elsa here GF2 Ultra here. They should bbe very similar. Except I believe the Leadtek uses 4.0ns mem chips, whereas the Elsa has 3.8ns mem chips. Enjoy

craig, I just built a new system including the Ultra. Works great so far but I haven't tried any games yet. Busy reinstalling Windows and all my apps.

I was unsure if I should install the Leadtek drivers which include the extra "Winfox" stuff or just use the Nvidia reference drivers like I've always used in the past. I decided to install the Leadtek drivers to play around with the hardware monitoring features of the card. Apparently it can read temp, fan RPM and stuff like that. Well, guess what? When I try to access those features it say 'NOT SUPPORTED'. Please tell me if you have the same problem? I have a full retail version so I would think it should have all the features.

I just received it by fedex, I'm going to install it and i'll let you know, and mine is retail to. Another question are you using the det. 2 drivers

The leadtek drivers that came with my card seem to corespond to V6.48 which is Det 3 I believe.

Len, I installed the same drivers and my monitoring software doesn't work either, but the over clocking one does. So far so good.

The Speed Runner overclocking tool doesn't work on my system. Even if I overclock the RAM just a little my screen gets all scrambled and I have to reboot. I've also noticed some video corruption even on the Windows desktop. I'm seriously considering switching to the Nvidia reference drivers.

I emailed Leadtek on the hardware monitor issue and got this very short reply: "hardware is not supported on the Ultra." So I guess that answers that question!

Just by tinkering around with Speed Runner I was able to get it to work. It seems I had actually LOWER the memory clock speed a bit and then it allowed me to raise without the screen getting all messed up. I increased the memory to 500 Mhz easily. No real surprise there since 4ns is rated for 500 Mhz so I'm technically not even overclocking it.

Another thing I discovered is that you can install different Nvidia reference drivers through the normal procedure of changing back to Standard VGA first and it doesn't disturb WinFox. I upgraded to 6.50 and everything works fine. But honestly I'm not really seeing much benefit from WinFox. You can enable overclocking on most Nvidia drivers using the Coolbits registry tweak. I don't really see much else that Winfox offers.

I am going to be buying a leadtek ultra very soon!
I need to know what drivers i need to install to get the full potential of this card. I will be reinstalling window and loading everything from scratch. I download Nvidia 12.41 drivers . Is this the right one?? Any help is much apreciated !!! Also i wil want to overclock this card ASAP, if you could give me the links i can go from there to download neccessary files
thanks
Chris

You could just install the Winfast drivers included with the Leadtek. They seem to be based on Nvidia 6.48 drivers. It also includes there Winfox utiltiy which includes a bunch of things including the Speed Runner overclocking utility. After using the Winfast Drivers and Winfox for a while I uninstalled both and installed the Nvidia 6.50 official drivers. Backlevel one 'official' release but they have worked well for me so I didn't want to mess with a good thing!!

To overclock the card just install the coolbits registry quick which adds overclocking ability to the Nvidia drivers. I'm not sure if Cool Bits works with the 12.xx drivers so you might want to check on that. It does work with the 6.50 drivers.

Save this to a file called coolbits.reg and double click. Works for at least Win98 & ME.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]

"CoolBits"=dword:00000003
