I know it's disapointing, but I was trying to squeeze 1 Ghz out of my
pentium III 750, so I picked up this new motherboard to do it. I thought "No
problem - Soyo is really friendly to us OC'ers and it should have tons of
bus speeds." I own 2 other Soyo motherboards and they have a ton of FSB
speeds. (SY-6BA+100 and the original SY-7VCA) I even checked the manual.
However, that is not the case. There are only 4 FSB speeds available in the
setup options ranging from 100-120. It will not even let me attempt 133. I
contacted Soyo tech support and got the answer that the "algorithims are not
in the BIOS because they made the board unstable". (Since when do
overclockers worry about that? The biggest part of the art of overclocking
is stabilizing the previously unstable?) I even asked about a BIOS switch
that would enable more speeds and they said there were none.
I don't know if there is a story here, but it may bear investigation.
