I laughed when I saw this, and you will too. Whenever I browse through Linux webpages, etc. I never see Linux has been proven to be better than windows at this yadda yadda propaganda, but of course, Micro$haft likes to hit below the belt. Anyways, enjoy this for what it is, a joke :D.

I guess that explains why the federal courts here are migrating from Windows 2000/NT to linux over the summer and the other federal departments in the upcomming year. And guess who's MOTHER is the administrator of the servers :D. My mom isn't even that tech savvy and she's been able to figure things out. Sorry for going off on a tangent. I think it shows how desperate Microsoft is getting to keep the IT managers on their side and in the process only hurts itself.

Started learning linux now since i failed my cisco semester 2 exams, I do find it funny on how they try to bash companys that would make them lose some money or a portion of the market. They started doing the same in the gameing company. and a probably going to try and outplay blizzard

... as if that happening ...

Just remember:
every time Microsoft says more about how good linux is NOT, they are really just spreading propaganda to try and stay ahead of something they see as the biggest threat they face. :)

I find it kind of funny really- in one breath they will talk about how linux is not competitive and the next they will tell you how far ahead of the competition they are.....and compare themselves with Linux. :D

Somehow, I don't see linux taking over in the next couple of years, but I do see it continuing to increase the share of the desktop market it has.
With software like Windows XP Pro, how can linux NOT stay ahead? :D:D

the only way linux can gain more ground with the average user is if game companys ship their games with a linux and a windows version. since the average pc user is most likely to play other games than unreal tournament.

Hey, it says server 2003 and winxp have a 60% speed increase? BS! Id like them to specify which distro. Lets see them claim that xp can outperform ANY box running Gentoo from stage 1. I can guarantee gentoo will kick its a$$

Gentoo is also no threat to MS, so they probably didnt "test" it, heh. They are more concerned about Fedora, SuSE, Mandrake..the "easy" distros

But hey, this is the way you do business. I dont "blame" MS, or call them whiney. If anything, they are some of the best business people in the world and know how to get money (thats what you start a business for afterall, isnt it?)

Hahaha...

Let me add haha!

Not sure about that server2003, but for windows in general:
If it's so secure and reliable, why is it that last time I checked the Norton AV database had more than 60000 entrys and more coming every day.
MS is getting desperate. The problem is that the general public eats everything that MS says and asks for more. "How can such a big corporation lie?". "Of course they can't lie. That would be.... uhm.. not nice!"

I'm looking forward to the day when Linux gets easy enough to use so that I can start giving it to everybody that has a computer. Including my parents.

I can tell u server2003 is slower. I had it, it has driver issues as well. And thats just on my fileserver. XP has about 18-22 processes running at startup, server has 32+

Sever virsions of linux will be awalys harder to install than windows. This is good for sucrity resions alone. But home distos will have to be maid easer to install to give windows a run for its money.

Does anyone else think M$ is going to come to a problem soon? Id say with the release of longhorn....

A FAST linux server is easy to make out of one of the major distros.
Install the deamons you need. Do not install the x-server(gui). Consol only for stability and speed. Last install webmin. Use another machine with a browser to do a web-based configuration of your server thru Webmins GUI. When you have set everything up disable Webmin, or even better, remove it(security reasons).
Point is that configuring a linuxbox thru Webmin is easier than doing it thru the Gui or consol. And I bet it's easier than the windows way too.

Where linux is starting to assail in market is device stuff like time clocks for work. Stuff company need to have a lot of devices that you don’t want to m$ for simple tasks. this is a start peple will get used to it
