Mandrake is deemed to be the most user-friendly distro, but you should be fine with redhat. I suggest you try them both if possible - see which one you feel most comfortable with.

Try www.linux-mandrake.com for info on Mandrake and www.redhat.com for Redhat.

Mandrake is based on Redhat - but after the 7.x series has become a distribution in its own right.

I would choose any of them - they are all pretty similar. Try Mandrake - from what I have heard it is THE distro for newer users.

I haven't personally run mandrake, but redhat was OK. I still never got over using rpms, I usually just installed the source packages anyways. When you feel good enough, come over to debian, with apt-get and you will be hooked for life. :D I would recommend you getting familiar with redhat or mandrake, I think it probably doesn't matter much in the long run, they both can run the same apps, the only difference is probably in the installl, and I can believe that they both are pretty easy to install now of days.
