Im trying to get into linux a lil bit and learn my way around a lil bit to familiarize myself by messing some stuff up :) I was just gonna do some try try try again type thing, and was lookin for a lil help. I formated windows (dont care about anything on drive), and made my partion only 13 gigs and left the other 7 for linux install. I went through all the steps of install and everything seemed fine... i partioned the remaining space on the hd automatically (had linux red hat 7 disk lying around), and then i go to boot and it just starts windows normally.....

i used default everything and workstation install cause i read that workstation was what u wanna do if u have multiple operating systems...... just tell me what i did wrong and plz try to not say "EVERYTHING" which could very well be what i did :)

If you didn't get any error messages then it should have installed. You should have been given the option to use lilo to make a boot menu and also to make a boot disk. I assume you must have declined lilo but hopefully made a boot disk. Use the boot disk to boot the system otherwise you'll have to start again.

Many install disks for Linux can also install your boot menu... lilo, grub... just hit F1 for more options before it begins the installation (it will tell you on the screen when to do it) then usually you type 'rescue' which will give you the options.

If you finished the installation, without errors (like Tiger said) then it should all be there...
