I about to start my 1st build. I have changed/upgraded almost piece in a pc but never a full build and I want to go liquid cooled but I don't know much about it. I don't see many cooling kits for the am3+ socket. Here is what I''m looking to start with.

Asus Sabertooth 990fx
AMD FX 8120
Crucial 128GB SSD
G Skllls ripjaws DDR3 4gb (*4)
Cooler Master 1000w PSU
Cooler Master haf X 942 case
HD 5770 GPU (in current pc)

I plan on adding some upgrades including going to 2 HD6950's?? and as many HD's as the case can hold but this is all I can do right now. Any advice out there on the liquid cooling front or any other aspect of the build would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, Sandy Bridge just kicks the pants off of Bulldozer. Not necessarily in performance (though it is slightly better performing at most tasks), but the power consumption and heat output is WAY lower. Unless you have a specific reason to go with AMD, I'd go with a 2600K.

Most of the liquid cooling folks hang out in that section of the forums. That being said, it's easier to solidify what components you need first, then you can calculate your headload and everything else you need for liquid cooling.

Also, CFX 6950s can run off a 750W, plus all your watercooling gear and such, you'd be fine with a high quality 850W. This is what I would go with: (You can get a cheaper case, I just know it's excellent for WCing, the HAF series is sort of the king of air cooling)

Thanks for the feedback I will take a look. My biggest reason for going AMD is price, the Intel chips are so expensive and would push my total budget WAY over the top. I would still go with at least 1000w psu considering the GPU's and HD's I want to get as soon as possible.

I think your comparing the Bulldozer chips to the X79 platform. Those (Sandy Bridge-E) chips are in the $500-1000 range.

You want the Sandy Bridge chips, which are around the same price as Bulldozer.

It says $580 for the CPU and the case in there, but that's a REALLY expensive ($280) case.

I will have to research the intel chips I did all my prior research on Amd chips x6/8 core. I still have a little time before I pull the trigger so I will look. Either way I want to go with water cooling but I just checked the beginners guide to water cooling so I guess now I have alot of research to do.

here is a link to help you with your water cooling endeavors but go with knufire that guy ROCKS and knows what he is talking about also do you have a micro center near by its WAY cheaper to buy from there.
