I have the Black LT-4816 combo drive and it's very reliable. I bought the retail version for the bundled software, Nero. Burns very, very fast compared to my old 12X burner. Read the reviews at Newegg for a better idea as how well it has worked for others..

i believe it was 53 dollars before the sale, as for the burner, its really good.

i bought a 5 dollar "buslink" cdrw 52x32x52 on black friday. Its a liteon. I dont know if it reads dvd's though.
