I didnt quite know where to stick this post, Heh. Oh well.

I have a Logitech mouseman wheel (the one with the thumb button). I am trying to bind ANYTHING to it in CS, its a messed up problem. In the controls menu, I bind a key to the thumb button and it recognizes it as that key. Then in the game it doesn't do jack. I have changed the button to various buttons (all are real keys, F1, F2, Enter ect...) with the Logitech software, but with no success.

So anyone have any ideas. Are there any firmware flashing thingys for mice?<====Dumb Question

reinstall the mouse software from the manufacturer.....then set the thumb button to forward and back (internet explorer commands) (that is if you have two buttons..i dunno about logitechs) and try again...make sure your mouse filter is off in your settings...and try to reset the keys on cs...try that

I have reinstalled the drivers for the mouse several times. I wouldnt want to set it as forward and back anyway, because I dont think HL would recognize those as keys...

Have you tried losing all the logitech drivers and just using
whatever windows gives you ?

Sometimes the logitech software screws things up....

I think I will try that, the problem is, I am not sure that the Windows XP drivers will support the thumb button.

Still doesnt work. Without the Logitech drivers, CS didnt recognize the thumb button at all (neither did anything else).

It has nothing on Logitech's part the HL engine just won't do that. The engine does this to help reduce any advantage. The Engine can read the signal directly from the keyboard and mouse i think. My friends and I have tried to do what u are trying to do on the same mouse for awhile.

Not true.

When I had Win98 I had the button working flawlessly as F10 or something. But XP is a botch.

A Belkin Nostromo Game Controller will do what you want. I think Best Buy or Comp USA carries it.

It has ten programmable keyboard keys and an 8-way pad. It's designed for the left hand (with a mouse in your right hand)

unfortately i have not found a useful solution even tho i have the exact same mouse, but i didn't try very hard [only looked around a lil in the CS Forums {Advance/Technical Issues}]. There maybe a solution there now tho, but i haven't kept track in the forums lately. :(

it would be sweet if i found this out as well b/c with my new gaming system about to be built, it'd be a nice touch at the end.
