Its so true. All we ever hear about Doom III is the dynamic lighting and um... I guess if you shoot boxes they move around and stuff. HL2 has so much more. ID could possibly be holding out information wise, but I highly doubt anything they come up with can top what I've seen in the HL2 video.

Well, to be fair, ID has never claimed to be a maker of good games - rather, they make good game engines. Quake 3 was never a good game but a lot of great titles were built on its infrastructure.

HL2 vs DOOM3

That was cute:p

I'm downloading Half Life 2 video right now! Only had to wait 40 minutes:eek:

Estimate download time is 1 hour+ and I have cable:rolleyes: You 56k'ers better do it over night.

Over night? Try over the summer, hehehe.

Seriously, could a 56k do 600 mb over night?

whats even funnier is its true...

I hope you get ripped appart by a cyberdemon.

In real life.

Seriously though, HL2 will be great, but Doom is Doom. They could sell a 9 year old hotdog in a box, half of you (me including) will still buy it, and give it a game of the year award.

Those who bash it, are simply kiddies who grew up playing pokemon, and then moved on to HalfLife, skipping the true classics.

Your last name isn't Carmack is it?

Guess that comic hit pretty close to home, heh.

I am going to buy both of these games when they come out. I think this comic is in reaction to the hype surrounding Doom 3 and the ignoring of Half-Life 2. I got this impression also when I was watching various news coverage (G4) of this years E3. Everyone was either raving about Halo 2 (meh) and Doom 3 and I heard very few things about half life 2.

"Doom is Doom" is true, but that simply means there are BIG shoes to fill and HIGH expectations to meet.

What I saw in that *cough* leaked *cough* *omitted* really impressed me, and I think Doom III will be an awesome game, at least visually.

HL2 also has high expectations to meet, and I think it will be much more immersive than Doom III, and at least as visually stunning.

I don't know, I just don't REALLY see a big fight coming on. People aren't going to be like...

"OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG WHICH ONE DO I BUY?!?!?!?!?"

They're gonna be all like

"OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG WHICH ONE COMES OUT FIRST AND/OR SAME RELEASE DATE WHICH ONE DO I BUY FIRST ASSUMING I DON'T BUY THEM BOTH AND OMGOMGOMG SAME RELEASE DATE [email protected]#[email protected]#[email protected]# I NEED TO CLOOONE MYSELF!!!!!1111
