Heck Mr B, start feeling him out about it when you feel comfortable enough at your job. If Stanford will come up with a client to run on Mac OS9.x, I'm definitely going to make the people I work for start folding. They have about 10 G3's and G4's at the office, but all their software is set up for the old Mac OS and they aren't upgrading to OS 10.x .

Hey PF, When you sent in your request to the IT department, you did add that the school admin was participating, right....:D
That just might be the hook to spur their interest!

The school Admin does seti, although it may be interesting to mention that...
I'm at school tomorow, I'll ask him then.
I should be able to definately get my biology teacher interested...

Wwll darn everybody i know is on the darkages.. I have 2 duron systems i built for work but no internet.. I am an auto tech/mech. and the guys i know with puters dont know enough to handle a problem caused by folding :( so i cant be of much help.. I might be able to sneak a line to my tune-up cabinet and to the office rig through some free internet service.. is there a way to transfer to WU on disk and upload from home??

[blank] state univ. and [blank] community college... you'll be folding soon. muah-ha-ha

well, if i don't get caught.

edit: -cough- crap.. i added my location - cough-

well, it could be a fake! mwa-haha

It's usually easier to get forgiveness than to get permission. The problem is you might not get forgiveness. Now, if there was no way they could figure out who put it on the computer, ...
:D
Nah, forget about that. I didn't say that.

Well that all went to pot.
Installed it on a few Celly433s and a Celly700.
The School Admin explained this to me:
- The IT dept says that F@H, as it pulls work through the HTTP proxy, is a security risk
- If a virus/worm/trojan horse etc gets into our network it could potentially have a field day, infecting all 10 other high schools to which we are networked, as well as all other council institutions
- His seti WUs are brought in on a floppy and taken home on a floppy. Thus it processes WUs but does not do this via a net connection through the HTTP Proxy.
- He understands my reasoning behind running F@H but stresses that it is the IT dept that will go ballistic about it and could actually 'disown' our computers and refuse to maintain them.

*Sigh* So there goes the idea of WCHS folding.

The good news is that one computer in the school - the aforementioned Celly700 is maintained by a different department. It is not due for maintainance for a few months so during the week it is folding 24/7!!

But, there is some good news. My next door neighbour is a Sysadmin at an airport. Hundreds of PCs on 24/7. I haven't had a chance to speak to him yet, but maybe thats the boost we need to show Rage3D that they aint gonna catch us!!!

heh heh... donny rulz.

Bring it. We'll find a way, or we'll melt mobo's trying.

Furthermore, I'll quote myself from another post:

Various teams will have peak production levels far out performing their average over time as team members lose interest, change jobs, move, or encounter any number of computer gremlins.

Recruitment of the people here at the forum remains our greatest weapon. From what I can see by the stats (thank you David, and others, who pointed me in the right direction), we have roughly 2/3 the processors doing about 75-80% the work of the other teams. Thus, we crunch more with less numbers.

Get our numbers up (members and good processors) , and we can out perform anyone. IMHO.

Time to understand the mentality of a HARDCORE GAMER... anything for a few extra FPS! Overclocked Pocessors... OLD HAT!
Overclocking Graphics Accelerators... OLD HAT! Voltage moding graphics, motherboards, procerssors... old school!

Pushing systems to the point of a melted puddle of plastic, aluminum, copper, and steel ... THAT is where you get your FPS...

Cable modems are a need when it comes to gaming ... I LAUGH AT YOU, and your pathetic attempts at humor! BWAAhaaHAHhahahaaa! :burn:

But seriously guys... competition is a good thing... but, as long as you are folding that is the main thing... this isn't for us... this is for everyone else! so with that said...

FOLD ON!

Rein it back in guys. No sense insulting the competition. You would be better served insulting our dormant folders and getting our team back up to 50%+ active folders. Then, we won't have to worry about who is behind us.

I would be insulted by that... but then I look at production stats and see us (Rage3D) kicking your booty. Ahhhhhhhhh, this feels so good :)

Enjoy the production while it lasts, ByteMe, nothing lasts forever. You might have a major player in your ranks, but this to shall pass. :p

Affirmative, number one....and I've begun to look over our team roster and PM members here about their production if it's way down low.

Actually, i think I am Number Three or Four. I believe that Skip and JoeC are #1 and #2 (or is it #2 and #1?) :)

But to quote the old Iron Maiden song (intro, really):

"You are Number Six."

"I am not a number, I am a free man!"
