looking for a pump

March Pumps makes a pump with those specs, but not with that price. The model 893 series of pumps have 3/8" input and output, and have a max flow of 162 gph. The only problem is that this pump cost about 150 bucks.

The problem is that for such a small outlet to move so much water, the pump needs a high head rating. The max head for this pump is 10.6 ft. That is a lot more than the more typical pumps we use.

I've looked high and low for such a pump and this is the only one I've found with a reasonable size. Johnson pump makes one with similar specs, but it's a bit longer.

The dolphin DP-270 does 270 g/h and has 1/2 inch fpt fittings. You can get 1/2 mpt to barb fittings and stretch the 3/8 inch tubing over it. You can get it here: http://www.marinedepot.com/a_ph_dolphin.asp

If it rattles, check the impeller. Mine was making noise and all I had to do was silicone the impeller blades to the impeller magnet assy. Now it is quiet! I have the DP-385 and it really moves water! Cheap too.

Interesting, I read those pumps were loud but if doing an impeller mod quiets it down to a reasonable level than that pump is a steal. Do you know how many watts the models use?

EDIT: Doh! The info and performance curves are at marine depot

Found the 385 for 30 bucks @ seaquest marine (shipping is a bit pricier though)
