Hello!
What is currently the best single processor motherboard for AMD Athlon that accepts DDR ram?

I'm interested in overclocking features and quality.

I appreciate your responses!

P. S. for 4 years I built only Intel based systems but now Athlons show some good results and cost cheaper. So I'm a novice with AMD, help me out.

depends on who you ask, right now 760 based boards deliver the best performance, but Nvidia is also working on a series of chipsets (Crush) for the Athlon, MSI announced somethin about this the other day, read it at the news section at Tom's. Also SIS has a chipset in the works that I hear is pretty good (735), yeah I said SIS and good in the same sentence! Not sure about the release dates on these, but it's something to look into... FYI- it is rumored that the Nvidia based boards will have 3 slots for ram, but when two (I suppose of the same size) are inserted, it will run in a Dual Channel mode, and talk about some bandwidth!!! Now I've haed these rumors from several places, but still take them with a grain of salt. I always like to keep an eye on what's comming down the pipe... Goodluck, and Welcome to the real performance platform- AMD!!! I jumped ship not long ago too...

Wait until the end of the month. ABIT is schedualed to release their DDR version of the KT7A-RAID.

my 2 cents

If you were not aware
The DDR chipset is not a mature chipset as of yet and some mobo producers are having problems with them, so it may be worth hanging on for the next generation mobo's.. another consideration is the performance advantage of using DDR is not currently as great as once thought and as SDRAM continues to increase speed this advantage continues to reduce further still.

A DDR mobo I cant recommend as I have no experience of them. However a novice builder should consider this simple fact, if you obtain a mobo with a new chipset that no one else has, getting information and help may be a little harder and the chipset may have problems due to its immaturity
