Hi i just got rid of my Asus A7V now i wanna go with a DDR board. Could anyone tell me what ATA 100 DDR board in there oppinion would be the most stable and have best overclocking ability in there oppinion at this time and has anyone tried the Abit KG7 - RAID and if so can you please tell me how you like that board.

I have both a Epox 8k7a and a 8k7a+ and have had no problems with them whatsover. I have duron 800's on them and one is @1100 and the other is @1050 with the retail fan/heatsink. This is both without really messing wiht them yet. I just set the multipler@7 and jacked up the FSB from the start. I will start trying to get more out of them in the next few days.

I have to second that the Epox 8K7A rocks!!!

Ok ive been looking at the Epox 8K7A and looks like a great board the only problem is that it only has 2 DIMM slots for memory i have been also looking at the Gigabyte GA-7VTX that has 3 and looks like it will walk on top of the Epox board does anyone use the GA-7VTX MoBo and if so could you please tell me i need to buy one of these boards soon thanks.

Gigabyte is probably nice, but I warn you... Even though it may look nice on reviews, it might act entirely different when you get it home.

For instance a TON of people on these msg boards have been VERY pleased with the epox, and I would highly advise you take to heart what they're saying. Their comments can be more meaningful than a handful of reviews.

Ok the Epox board looks good but one more question
does anyone know about the EP-8KHA Epox board the one with 3 DIMM slots which i would like better because it has one more Slot then the EP-8K7A please if any one knows if that board is just as good could you tell me.. Thanks.

Another (late) vote for the Epox 8K7A. I hear Crucial is coming out with 512 MB modules in August so the 2 sockets on the 8K7A won't really be an issue after that. I have a single 256MB Crucial PC2100 and I'm perfectly happy but I guess others may have different needs.

I can recommend the Iwill KA266 I have been using it overclocked for about 4 months trouble free.

ps If you want raid they have the KA266R as well.

The reason I say the Epox 8K7A is for the following reasons

Can up voltage on the chip to 2.25V without moding the board. This gives you an advantage when pushing the last few MHz out of the chip. No other board offers this.

It has the 1/5 PCI divider with the new bios. This lets you go much higher on the FSB then boards without it. Don't think the Gigabyte has this option? someone back me up!

Epox is know for be Rock Solid! Gigabyte is considered to be very stable too, but Abit's stability is questionable in my mind. I have had two abit boards and had issues with both. I have heard of many other people having problems with Abit too. A friend of mine who doesn't even overclock had capacitors on his Abit BH6 exsplode.

If RAM is that big an issue then go for more slots, but if not you know my choice.

Thank you everyone you were a great help to me i came to my conclusion finally the Epox EP8K7A it will be i will go pick me up one in a couple of days i will soon see what my Duron 700 will do in this board as it did 840 stable in my Asus A7V i hope to get more out of it with this board. soon to find out :) i have a good feeling about this board. Thanks again everyone....

the epox is probably the best of the DDR boards out there, although there are other very good ones. You made a good choice. I am waiting to watch what happens with the Abit DDR.
