if im gonna shell out a lot of cash im gonna wanna go big so what im looking for but have no idea really cause im new to smp and just learning as i go is .

i want a solid board that uses nforce2 , native raid0 sata 100 and good throughput on the onboard lan .
also want some of the faster ram compatabilities like ddr400 and it needs to be agp x8

this board does not need to be very overclockable

no rack mounts

i was told by a very high up professional to stay away from tiyan boards btw .

right now only the 760mp/x are supported for SMP, it looks like the Nforce3 will be an smp chipset, but i may be wrong on this, but i thought i heard it in refernce to the optron chip also, again this may also be wrong.

i did see that new board that used some other name for chipset but it said its the first recomended board for opteron.

i think the reason i was told nforce is because it was explained to me that amd smp and nforce go together real well with good drivers and that some of the tyan boards drivers whernt that good. ill ask when i get to work (kinda hard to get the exact idea when translating to english when my japanese sux royal rastafarian ney neys )

THERE IS NO NFORCE SMP CHIPSET OR MOTHERBOARD!

the nForce 3/FX specsheet shows that it will have smp support, so as of this moment there is no SMP nForce at the moment but there may be in the future we will just have to wait and see

Rather then being shouted at for was a miss understanding on my part, even thought i thought i had put in good qulifiers, there is a new nforce chipset, it is called the nforce3 pro, and it is for the opteron cpu, but as cmcquistion sorta stated, it is not a SMP solution, it is just a single chip solution for the 64bit opteron. here is a link on the new chipset.
