This cpu is running on jetway mobo with VIA 133 pro chipset , VT82C693A chip. The memory benchmark reported by sandra is 150/155 ....This box is not oc'ed and is running win2000 pro

When I got my fingers on this comp it did not have any 4in1 drivers installed and was performing accordingly.. I installed the latest VIA drivers and got the hdd into shape..cannot find anything in Bios that can explain such horrible memory score, cas settings and bank timings only change the score a few points.

Any suggestions what can kill memory bandwidt like this??

And btw what mobo would you recommend for this cpu, with ATA 100 support (no raid) to get a STABLE vorkstation.

278/311 on my P!!!800eb. thats PC150 mind you. Also im on a pos mobo. (QDI legend advance 10) dont know man, im not really good with problems like these just had the same processor and thought id post my scores.

btw-bad chip isnt it? p!!!800eb, bought it before i knew about overclocking, foolish me.

I have an 800EB and an ASUS CUSL2. This board is VERY stable. I have it overclocked to 150mhz bus at 1.7 voltage and have not had a blue screen yet. I highly suggest this board. It has no RAID and is ATA100 compatible.

One more thing. This may scare some peole out there but benchmark's are not reliable or an accurate measure of a computer's ability. Case in point. Me and a friend have the same mobo, hard drive, ram, and overclocked settings. The only differences between our two computers is my processor is an 800EB him an 866EB and I have a GTS 32mb ddr, he a Pro 64mb ddr. We both are running w2k with the latest drivers for both cards. Now according to what I told you his should be able to beet mine in any graphics benchmark with no problem. But running 3DMark2000 I manage to score a hundred points better than him on average. Yet after gamming on both II believe his to be the superior machine. So my conclusion is not to trust benchmarks. If both the benchmarks are bad and you notice something wrong then go digging, but if the only reason that you think there is a problem is because a program is spitting back low numbers at you then I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree that no one should be to upset about benchmarks, however when I see scores like this I try to find out what is happening. This score is to horrible to ignore, and the person using this comp (at work) is not happy with it..

I know that the VIA chipset is not the best one for the P3 series of cpu, but several identical boxes at work score in the 300-400 range in the sandra mem bench. These are running the VIA Appolo pro 133A chipset... (VT82C694X ).....Compared to these boxes the "problem" box is basically retarded...

Any more ideas..??

No actually I have not tried this program..I would do it if this was my own box, but I am not sure if it is good idea to use this app in this case, thanks for the tip though.

Is there really so much difference beetween the these two VIA chipsets?

Hey Ericsson, I noticed the same thing on my inlaws 800EB / VIA-133 rig! (MSI mobo) It scores 'only' 167/170, while my Celemine800@1008 on iBX@126 (Abit mobo) scores 362/412. Both system's ram are set to 2-2-2. Seems to be the chipset, I guess it really is the VIA chipset then, I dunno if it's the 133 or 133A though... I'd like to know anyone's 800EB scores on a 815E mobo?! Anyone..?

Yes, there is that much of a difference. With WCREDIT tweaking the 133A chipset can get near BX numbers. The older VIA chipsets can't.

The i815e gets memory scores a little below the BX, but better than the 133A.

Door Knob,

Of course your 800EB will outperform your buddy's 866EB if like you said both are overclocked to the same mhz. Your FSB mhz is higher than your buddys at what ever the mhz is OC'ed. Higher FSB mhz means higher performance rate. Therefore the Sandra benchy report seem to be very accurate. It's the progs like Sandra will measure the true performance, not how the user feels when using the system.
