My desktop comprised of 2x512 and the pagefile set to system manage, has been giving me "Your computer is running low on memory. Quit Applications" Error. How can this be? I've never had this problem before. No virii or spyware found. Used Adaware 6.0 and Norton Anti-Virus. Both of which are completely up to date. Any suggestions?

*edit* I get the error when trying to play a video file with WMP. I've tried several different files with different codecs.

Windows XP Pro. Fresh install done 12 days ago. Some video files it plays ok I'm finding. Others its telling me its out of memory. File sizes not playing range from 2mb - 615mb.

Open Task Manager (Press Ctrl+Alt+Del) | "Processes" tab | Select "View" --> Select Columns...to show "CPU Usage"; "CPU Time (Cumulative)", and probably "Memory Use" | Look for a process (other than System Idle Process) that's using a lot, and especially if its' memory use is growing continually...there's probably malware on your system that hasn't been detected.

I agree completely, there has to be something eating up your memory, If you have multiple user accounts with fast-switching I advise that you turn fast switching off because 3 or more users on can really bog down a system.

I checked the memory usage and it was all acceptable. I found out the supposed video files I was trying to play were actually incomplete. D'oh! Well, better that then a serious memory issue! Thank you all for the quick responses!
