A friend that was moving a while back had a couple of boxes of PSX games that he was selling at a used game store. I was helping him and he told me that if I wanted anything to have at it before he sold them. I dug around the box, pulled some Final Fantasys and saw two larger boxes that said Lunar and Lunar 2, both Complete versions with leather books inside. He told me he tried the first one, but never finished nor opened the second. So, I took em.

That was about a year and a half ago. I recently heard a friend talking about these games and a friend of a friend raved about them.

Are they any good? Is it worth scrounging up a PSX memory card to play?

I was even considering getting a PSP and making ROMs of them and playing them since apparantly they're worth a few bucks.

Any opinions?

I had the first two Lunar games back on the Sega CD, the first is one of my favorite RPG's of all time. Definately worth your time to try them out in my opinion.

YES! play the damn games damnit!

If you like traditional RPG's then you *should* like Lunar: Silver Star Story complete, and Lunar: Eternal Blue. ( I'm assuming those are the two Lunar games you are talking about. )

Both games are really good, if you can get past the fact that the character's in-game graphics are still the SNES type sprites. If you can get past that...they are really good games.

you said their in boxes with the hard-cover booklets...are the other items in the boxes too? the necklace, the cloth map, the cardboard type stand-up pieces?

IF you have all the pieces to the box sets ( especially including the heavy-*** necklace that comes in one of the boxes ), and you don't like the games, i will re-activate my Paypal account to buy them from you!!!! ( provided you want to sell them, and we'd do it over the classifieds section to make sure its within the forums rules. )

I've got them both on Sega CD as well, along with Popful Mail. They're both essentially the same. If you like Final Fantasy and like other JRPG games then you'll probably like this too.

As a rule, I can't stay interested in RPGs. I find them interesting, but too time consuming.

Lunar is one of the very few RPGs that violates that rule. If I hadn't lost the CD :)() I would have finished playing it! Its an excelent game IMO, and definatly worth playing :)

Lunar Silver Star Story has a killer 9 player pong game too.

Oh and the story is great as well, not to mention the game is actually worth a decent chunk of cash if it's in good condition.

Both games have everything.
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete has the games CDs and a Making Of CD, a leather artbook/instruction manual and a cloth map.

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue has the game CDs a soundtrack, a Making Of CD, the leather book, a heavy Gold plated pendant in a bag (pendant still has paper around it) and another bag with the pendant with some small cardboard somethings.

I'm assuming this is everything. In fact, Eternal Blue is still sealed (the game itself.)

I'd like to give them a shot, but I dont have the PS2 hooked up, and I dont have a PS1 memory card. I'm still thinking about the PSP Rom thing. It would be a lot more convenient to play them mobile at work and between trips around town.

Anyone have an idea how much a used PSP is?

Gamestops website says that refurbished PSP's ( i'm assuming Refurbished in this case, means used ) costs 129 for the fat PSP, or 149 for the slim. God, thats insanely priced for something used. a whole 20 dollar difference. hell, would be better to spend the extra 20 bucks to make sure you get a NEW version.

you could also try an emulator on your computer. Since you actually own the game, there shouldn't be any legal problems with this at all. Though, specific instructions on doing this may be against forum rules. That, or you can hook up your PS2, as that would be the fastest way.

I still have both of the originals...on Sega CD! When they were re-released on Playstation, I snatched them both up on their respective release dates. They're really some of the best, most classic console RPG's out there, you won't regret playing them :)

DONT OPEN LUNAR 2!!!! get the cd online if you have to check ebay out they are going for big $$$ unopened, im not saying to sell them but if you have a sealed copy DONT OPEN IT
