I remember reading about a program that allowed people to change how fast Maxtor drives seeked, by adjusting the sound levels or something. Anyone know more about this? I just recieved a Maxtor/Quantum Fireball 541DX hard drive, (5400rpm ATA100 20GB), from a friend and I wanna see if I can speed it up any. I tried searching Maxtors website, but I couldn't find it. Anyone have a link?

Its called amset. It runs from a floppy in DOS. Its on their site, right around where their utilites are. Check to make sure your model has acoustic management.
