Maze 2-1

I just got my Maze2-1. I got the 2-1 because I'm palnning to get a pelt at some point, but I don't have one right now.
So, should I take the cold plate that's already attached to it off until I get a pelt, or just leave it on?

You need to remove the cold plate if you're not using a pelt. if you left it on, the water would not be close enough to the heat to maximize it's effectiveness.
